Hi guys!

This is Netanel – but my friends call me Tan. My sister is writing this as if it's from me because she lives with me and understands how hard things are. She wishes I would be writing this myself with my thoughts and feelings but she knows I can't.

I'd like to tell you a bit about myself. I like playing in the water, going to the park, and dogs. I'm 10 years old, but I'll be turning eleven soon! And you know what I want the most for my birthday? The gift of speech. Or maybe happiness. Peace of mind would be great, too. You see, I have something called Autism. This makes me not be able to talk. It makes it hard to have friends ... they won't give me a chance because I'm "different.” They just laugh at how I flop around my hands and at other involuntary movements I can't control. Autism makes me really sad. Not being able to communicate really stinks. All of this can cause me to hit myself in frustration and totally freak out, which can get pretty scary. Autism makes me super sensitive to sounds, lights, and crowds ... so I can't get out much. My autism also makes me wander off sometimes, which is super dangerous. But the worst part is that I can't help it. Life for me is pretty hard.

Then my family found W.A.G.S. 4 Kids.

They said they can get me a dog(!) that will help me have the life I dream of. I would finally have a friend ... and can make friends through the dog. I can have it there to help calm me down and make me happy. I can finally go to places because it will be there to support me. It would keep me from getting hurt or lost. Seriously, it's all the birthday gifts I mentioned before and more!
