Meet Michael

Mission: $9,000 Family Fundraising

January 16, 2018

Michael was born in 2003 with Mowat-Wilson Syndrome- a rare genetic disorder that can affect your brain, heart, GI system, urinary system, and more. Michael has severe developmental delays and very limited speech (about 50 words), however he can understand. He is loving, social, empathetic, silly, funny, cute, stubborn, energetic, and literally loved by all! He is a lover of dogs, babies, sports, trucks, motorcycles, and music. He is very blessed to have three active siblings who fiercely love, admire, and protect him, and a school and community that loves, accepts and includes him everywhere we go.

Unfortunately, Michael has severe anxiety which limits where he goes and for how long. Family outings are often difficult because of Michael’s anxiety, leading us to pack it in or dividing up so Michael can go home. Travel to anywhere other than a relative’s house is almost out of the question, and his frequent hospitalizations are getting more difficult each time. He likes to wander, and he often gets very little sleep. I mention these things only because these are just some of the issues that a service dog will help Michael with. I believe, with our support and a service dog at his side, Michael can conquer his world more confidently and safely. We are very excited for this new chapter in his life!
