Dentzler Elementary collects "Change for Change"

Fundraiser is part of Kids Who Can! Youth Empowerment Program

November 8, 2019

In September and October 2019, students at Dentzler Elementary School (Parma City School District) learned more about service dogs and the W.A.G.S. 4 Kids program while also hosting fundraisers.

W.A.G.S. 4 Kids visited the elementary school on September 3, 2019 for an assembly to educate the students about what a service dog is, who a service dog can help, and what to do when encountering a service dog in public.

In the weeks after the assembly, the students participated in a "change for change" fundraiser (much like a penny war), collecting donations for W.A.G.S. 4 Kids as part of a Kids Who Can! project. W.A.G.S. 4 Kids bracelets were also sold as part of the fundraiser. Grades 1-5 competed against one another to try and raise the most funds for an an awesome prize: getting to watch a movie with W.A.G.S. 4 Kids' demo-dog, Po!

When all the dust (or coins) settled, it was the second grade that came out on top! Overall, all the students at Dentzler Elementary School raised $1,250 for W.A.G.S. 4 Kids!

On October 31, 2019 the second grade students filled the elementary school gym to enjoy their reward for being so generous. They watched "The Secret Life of Pets 2," enjoyed fruit snacks, and pet Po.

All Dentzler Elementary School students are Kids Who Can! for participating in this project for the Fall semester.
