Wags4Kids ~ Donations for Luke

Luke was diagnosed with Autism a week before his third birthday. Up until Luke turned a year old, his development met all of our expectations. He was a happy and healthy baby! It was after his first year that we noticed many delays in speech. As time went on, Luke became distant and did not communicate with us at all. He threw many tantrums out of frustration. Also at this time, Luke started becoming quite sick. He would spike extremely high fevers, each time slipping further away from us. His only type of communication was echolalia, in which he just repeated everything others said. Luke will be five years old this year. He has come a long way since the day he was diagnosed, however each day still brings many challenges for him. Luke has an IEP and goes to an integrated preschool, where he has amazing teachers and therapists. He also does 15-20 hours of ABA therapy in our home with wonderful tutors and an ABA therapist. We continue to see his pediatric neurologist to follow up on his interventions. Luke is also doing much better with his autoimmune deficiency which was cause of his many illnesses. He still faces many challenges with his poor little body, but continues to see a DAN doctor whom works with him to find some balance. Communication and socialization are still most difficult for Luke. He becomes over stimulated so easy, which causes him to shut down or break down. Both of which interfere with his ability to learn. He is a very smart child that just faces many obstacles. Our goal is to help Luke overcome the obstacles. When we get glimpses of Luke’s true personality, our hearts melt! He is such a wonderful little boy! It is those moments that keep us fighting this battle. Please help us fight Luke’s battle! We feel that a service dog would be a great companion for Luke. A dog trained for his specific needs could really help him feel more confident. Any donation will be greatly appreciated!
