Wags4Kids ~ Donations for Zoey

Zoey is an active nine year old girl.  She has a diagnosis of Rubinstein- Taybi Syndrome, which is a deletion of the 16th chromosome.  This causes her to have developmental delays and some things are harder for her to learn.  Zoey has been in various therapies beginning at six months of age to improve her gross and fine motor skills as well as speech.  Despite her medical issues, she is a happy, fun loving little girl who brings joy to everyone she meets.
Zoey likes the same things that other children in her age group do but has a hard time vocalizing and socializing.  She tends to be on the outside looking in because she has difficulty engaging.    Zoey loves to play outside with her sisters and has recently begun to ride a modified bicycle.  Zoey is our swimmer and enjoys being in the pool which helps her increase her muscle tone.  She also is very good at anything electronic and enjoys her Ipad to the fullest.   We want Zoey to be able to find ways to interact with her peers and believe that a companion dog will help with this.  She will be able to walk, run, play fetch, and have a friend who is there for her unconditionally.
Zoey has made tremendous progress over the years but she still struggles with speech and needs to improve on her socialization skills with others.  Our hope is that a companion dog will assist Zoey to gain independence and confidence in her daily life and improve her socialization with her peers.
